5. Correspondence
Correspondence File has been emailed to all.
Judy: Several emails with Michelle May re website and suggestion of setting up Drop Box for historical records. Following discussion, it was agreed that Russell Cruickshank will ask Michelle to start to set this up.
Agreed no financial records would be kept there. Russell to investigate other options for these.
Michelle is still happy to sponsor the website through payment of GoDaddy account.
Les: Correspondence received recently from Richard Farrant. AVGU Strokeplay Championships in 2027 will be held in NSW. Seeking expressions of interest.
Les’s opinion was that Western Sydney would not be capable. Need a venue to hold 500+, 4-5 courses available every day for the week and is a huge undertaking. All in agreement.
Judy to email Richard – thank you but WS not in a position to host.
6. Finances
Financial Statement for April-May has been emailed to all.
Judy to contact Richmond Club re payment of last year’s sponsorship.
Moved by Peter Watson seconded by Chris Sharpe and agreed by all that the Financial Statement be
accepted.
7. Report Interclub event held at Richmond, Tuesday 9 May
Report from Noel Byles was given to all by Chris Sharpe.
Biggest problem was again poorly marked score cards.
Les: Leave it up to host clubs to advise players about recording/entering scores etc. The Association can’t make a rule that overrides the ‘rules of golf’.
8. Report Interclub event held at Wallacia Friday 2 June 2023
Noel Hoppe: 117 players. Problems with scoring 2 ball on the card, slowed the results down.
Bonus Points for ladies has been questioned re Player of the Year. Actual score was sent to Golf Link and 2 points were only added after the ball comp.
Les asked that information re Interclub games be sent to President and Secretary as well.
9. Interclub event to be held at Stonecutters on Wednesday 12 July
Kim Stockbridge: Entry forms have been sent out and due back by 5 July.
$32 payment for carts to be paid at the Pro Shop.
10. Interclub event to be held at Dunheved on Tuesday 8 August
Paul Fairbrother: Good roll up of volunteers. Match committee to discuss hole set up and solutions for hold ups from last year.
10. Report from NSWVGA
Les: Recent Special General Meeting did not pass changes to Constitution. Disappointing as Sub
Committee had done an amazing job.
Many policies are being updated.
Les and Treasurer not standing for re-election.
Access is now available to new website. Judy to contact Webmaster re training.
11. General Business
Stonecutters: New Pro Adam Kelleher
Wallacia: Still uncertain about their future even with changes to Government.
Glenmore: Struggle to get numbers for Interclub games. Query regarding eligibility of members.
Les to send out details of By Laws. (see attached)
Dunheved: Paul had sent an email ‘Consistency in delivering results at end of competition’.
How do other clubs finalise results?
This initiated much discussion including examples of how clubs had run their day. eg Leonay 2 scanners and player (under supervision) enters their own card. Richmond, cards collected and entered by Committee members. Difficult to follow up errors etc.
Common approach to prizes.
Les: In the By Laws it is up to each clubs as to whether individual or multiple prizes.
Presentation:
Can results be delivered later by email, prizes given at next game or WSRVGA meeting?
Discussion~ Peter Watson- More important that results are accurate than are out quickly. Have lunch, raffles etc and go home.
Very few presentations after normal club games. Results can be put on website.
Les: Clubs can still hold presentation, but no pressure to do so. Their decision should be put on the entry form.
Leonay: New CEO Corey Fletcher has just arrived. Seems very approachable and involved.
Les: Due to a clash of dates (Pink Charity Day 20 th Sept) would like to change next meeting date to 27 September. All agreed.
12. Next meeting will be Wednesday 2 August 2023 at Leonay Golf Club beginning at 2pm.
Les Knox Judy Jordan
President WSRVGA Secretary/Treasurer WSRVGA
The meeting closed at 3.20pm.
