Greg reported that forms should be available at Stonecutters and also emailed out.
Private carts allowed with $15 surcharge.
They now have 40 carts, $28 each. Meal $15.
10. STONECUTTERS CONTINUED MEMBERSHIP OF WSRVGA:
Les: Concern that Stonecutters is usually unable to provide 18 players in interclub events.
Executive have met and agreed that they should be allowed to continue in the association.
Kim has been trying to stimulate members . They only have a Seniors Comp, playing 8 holes.
Les: All events have been filled (by other clubs). Beneficial to have had Stonecutters available for Stroke Play Championship. Craig Scott has always been a supporter of Vets Golf, but there is a cost to them to provide the course for the day.
There is no indication at the moment that they won’t make the course available.
Mark M asked how reserves will be allocated if Stonecutters don’t have a full field? Les responded, this is covered in the By-laws.
Noel B commented that Craig Scott was vital for the initial work in setting up the association.
11. UPDATE OF WALLACIA GOLF CLUB:
Mick Toohey
On 11 May 2021, The Land & Environment Court released its decision to uphold the Appeal by Catholic Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust to the refusal of Development Application (DA) 17/1092 by the Penrith City Council which issued the refusal on advice from the Sydney Western City Planning Panel (SWCPP). The SWCPP was advised to refuse the DA by the Independent Planning Commission (IPC).
The DA had been referred by CCMT (9/01/18), to the Minister for Planning, on the basis that the SWCPP had not yet determined the (Crown development) application, within the approval timeframe. On 8/06/2018 the Minister delegated the DA to the IPC. On 12 July 2019, the IPC, after review of the available information and community consultation, advised the SWCPP to refuse the application, based on its assessment. On 18 July 2019, the SWCPP determined to refuse the DA with reasons consistent with the IPC advice. The Council issued the notice of refusal to the applicant on 19 July 2019.
Soon after an undated letter sent By The Minister For Water Property and Housing Melinda Pavey , Melinda Pavey to CMCT was distributed around the club. This letter raised the issue relating to Crown Lands and the requirement for Ministerial consent for sale of Crown Lands and that no request for consent has been received.
STJBC who have taken over the Wallacia Golf Club have had an agreement with CMCT to purchase the land in the vicinity of the clubhouse and carryout substantial alterations and renovations and have paid a deposit.
This has caused substantial concern to STJPBC and without the consent of the Minister the sale of the land cannot proceed. And the golf club will not be able to operate. The CEO of SJPBC David Marsh posted a letter about this on the club’s facebook page on 27 May 2021.
12. SPONSORSHIP RICHMOND CLUB:
Noel B: Due to be submitted in July for their meeting in August.
13. ASSOCIATION HISTORY UPDATE BY NOEL BYLES:
CEO from Richmond Club has promised to write the foreword, and help with publication. Difficult to force the matter until sponsorship is guaranteed.
14. EXPRESSION OF INTEREST BY LYNWOOD CC TO JOIN WSRVGA:
Les and Noel recently met with current General Manager, Matt Bailey
Very positive attitude, and agreeable to run an event on a Monday later in the year.
Recommendation of the executive that they be invited to join our association, especially with some club’s future in doubt.
Motion, moved by Noel B, seconded by Mick Toohey and carried, that we further investigate Lynwood becoming a member of our association.
Discussion:
Malcolm; if 9 clubs , the host club would not enter players.
Les - this has been suggested before and rejected.
John; concerned with timing. Schedule for next year needs to be done by the AGM.
Les – November could be a ‘test run’ for them.
Les suggested they be invited to our next meeting. If it were to go ahead, there are conditions etc in the Constitution that will have to be followed, and also would need to apply to NSWVGA to admit Lynwood.
15. CONSIDER INCREASE OF ENTRY FEES IN 2022 FROM $15.00 TO $20.00:
The executive have recommended this increase for Interclub events. This will help clubs when they host a day.
Motion, moved by John L, seconded by Greg B and carried, that entry fees rise to $20 in 2022.
16. GENERAL BUSINESS:
Noel R gave results of the recent Match Play event. Best was Michael Moussa 2nd place (Penrith).
He also asked if delegates could get the person from their club who monitors Facebook to accept WSRVGA as ‘a friend’. Any issues, see Noel
17. Next meeting 4th August at Leonay Golf Club 2021:
