6. REVIEW OF NSWVGA ZOOM EXECUTIVE MEETING 24TH FEB 2021:
• Female eligibility to win NSWVGA Trophy at NSWVGA Weeks of Golf
NSWVGA already sponsor 6 Championships plus a Ladies Stableford which will be included at Dubbo event this year.
To win all NSWVGA Championship events, NSWVGA trophy at Weeks of Golf and play in medal of medals play offs, competitors must be members of NSWVGA. That includes both men and women.
Ladies can still play in Weeks of Golf if they are members of the Veteran Ladies Association but cannot win the NSWVGA trophy.
7. VERBAL REPORT NSWVGA ZOOM EXECUTIVE MEETING HELD AM 14TH APRIL
• NSWVGA Weeks of Golf. From August 1st ladies must be a member of NSWVGA to win the NSWVGA Shield. It is suggested that ladies intending to play in WOG, join NSWVGA.
• NSWVGA Medal. The Medal and the Medley Fourball will be played again in 2021.
2019 WSRVGA only nominated for the singles, using results from Player of the Year. It was played at Port Macquarie. This year, finals will be held at Forbes and Nambucca.
2021, WSRVGA may nominate players for the Fourball. Suggestion from Noel R that 3rd and 4th place getters in Player of the Year be selected.
• Noel R questioned the advertising in Inside Golf. Les’s response, it would be a ‘one off’ to attempt to get more members.
• Website – We need to update contacts in both NSWVGA and WSRVGA websites. Judy to confirm contacts and advise appropriately.
There is a new website for the data base coming.
• Match Play Championships will be held at Pt Stephens in 2021 and 2022, then going out to tender for 2023-26.
8. SPONSORSHIP – THE RICHMOND CLUB:
Noel B: We have the application form for the grant, and he and Judy have begun to work through this. It needs to be submitted in August. Noel B to sign instead of Les.
9. REVIEW OF WALLACIA INTERCLUB EVENT (19.02.2021): Mick Toohey
Apologies for being late, but had many last minute phone calls re rain etc.
He had put a message on WSRVGA Facebook page that only minimal rain expected.
Badgerys Creek weather station predicted no rain after 9am.
There were 133 starters, as some had pulled out on the morning.
Difficult to get the scores all entered, as computers were playing up.
Mick had produced his own cards which allowed larger space to record the scores. He also had to look up handicaps before he printed, and was still printing in the morning.
Some players still had problems marking cards.
Congratulations to Malcolm Dean (Glenmore) for a Hole in One.
Mick has sent out list of trophy winners.
Vouchers and balls not handed out on the day, have today been given out.
Club of the Year results were not announced on the day.
Wallacia (133pts), Dunheved (126), Penrith (122), Glenmore (122), Richmond (122), Leonay (120), Springwood (112) and Stonecutters (110)
Course rating was +3
Few people were able to stay for lunch because conditions before hand made ordering difficult. Raffle takings were also down.
Other comments:
Greg Burke: Course conditions, especially for carts, were treacherous.
Mick: main problem was the amount of rain in the morning, there hadn’t been much prior to the day.
Noel B: Suggested there should be consultation with the Executive whether the games go ahead, then all share in the result, good or bad.
Les: Thanked Mick for all his efforts but suggested he gets more help from other members.
11. CHANGE OF DATE FOR SPRINGWOOD EVENT:
Moved by Rick Paynter, seconded Noel B and agreed by all that the new date for Springwood Inter Club event be 17th September.
12. RICHMOND EVENT TUESDAY 20TH APRIL:
Noel B reported that the draw has been distributed to all clubs today, but there will still be some changes.
Course conditions will be decided on the day and announced following registration.
Les apologized for not being able to be there, Noel to say a few words on behalf of WSRVGA.
Conveners to ring the Pro Shop to order carts.
13. ASSOCIATION HISTORY UPDATE BY NOEL BYLES:
Unfortunately the contact at the Richmond Club that Noel has been working through, has left. He is waiting to find out who the replacement is, as he still would like to get the publication done through the Richmond Club.
14. GENERAL BUSINESS:
Malcolm Dean (Glenmore) Peter Murphy is a new delegate for Glenmore.
John Lovatt had his back operation this morning, but as yet, no news.
Noel Rowsell (Leonay) Asked if there was any interest in applying for the Match Play Championship.
Les responded that he personally wasn’t, and it needs to be played over a number of courses.
Dunheved (Peter Watson) Little damage to the Club House following recent floods, but the course
sustained some damage. Still very wet. Vandals have smashed security cameras.
Noel Byles (Richmond) At the moment the rough is very difficult to mow, hopefully will be done over the weekend. Players must strictly adhere to time limits when looking for balls.
Les Knox (Leonay) Yesterday (13th April), he and Mick Toohey had attended the funeral of Billy Jamieson’s wife. Billy had been a foundation member of WSRVGA.
Bruce Baker (Leonay) Problems with their computer system, hoping to be fixed soon. New watering system has just been installed but considerable damage to pumps and other equipment in recent flood.
