7. OPEN FORUM
(i) Michelle Mathus addressed the meeting.’We have had steady growth in the Website, particularly in the Facebook area’. Russell commented 94 current facebook members. A request to e-mail Michelle a story – we need more activity. Michelle can help Clubs make better use of the Website. When golf results aren’t up she usually gets a call! Ask if you need help.
(ii) Richard Doyle offered Les his personal thanks for Les’ support. Richard then described the “Tag Along Tour” starting in Yamba and going west and south as a worthwhile strategy to raise the level of protection to golfing individuals. Sydney Vets played recently at Richmond with 86 players. Here is an opportunity for WSRVGA to share an event with Sydney Vets to get bigger fields on Western Sydney courses. Les requested more information and/or a proposal. Noel suggested a trophy: Sydney Vets v WSRVGA. Jim Lyons noted that SV runs all-male tournaments?
(iii) Peter Watson posed the issue of ‘how do we give out trophies?’ Much discussion followed and a divergence of views was expressed. Les noted that in WSRVGA it was ‘up to each Club to decide’. He also said that at NSWVGA level it was ‘one trophy per player’.There would be obvious benefits if there was consistency in our approaches to this matter. Les indicated the matter should appear as an agenda item for the next Council meeting .
In closing the meeting at 2.56pm, Les Knox thanked all for their attendance and wished all present a safe and happy festive season. He invited all to the lounge area for afternoon tea.
The first Council meeting next year will be held on Wednesday
